Naturopath Dr. Juniper Martin stopped by the studio to talk to us about the best way to keep our kids healthy now that they are heading back to school. Really schools are just overgrown petridishes and if you child is there too long, they can bring home more than just homework. So what do you do as a parent? What did you give them? Dr. Juniper Martin gives specific examples of the best stuff to keep them healthy.
What about Teens and Tweens? We discussed that as well. Where are some of the places we as parents can take steps to help prevent our children from getting sick? Lunch bags? What is best to put in them? What is worst?
This is a conversation not to be missed unless you want to be paying more in co-pays than in education. Don’t forget to share it with other families at your school and LIKE us on Facebook. Can we cross the 300 barrier by Monday? I bet we can if we all stay healthy enough.

Regina of Urosa joined Todd and Laura today to talk about finding harmony in one’s life. Laura enjoys practicing meditation everyday. Todd enjoys sleep. Which one is balanced in your mind? Regina spoke to not being concerned with the way everything looks and how long you might meditate. What might work for one, doesn’t need to be the same way for anyone else.
Her suggestion to Todd and others would be that they they take one minute, two minutes or even just five minutes once or twice a day to come into connection with themselves. Taking that amount of time can allow you to find your center and your balance and create the type of future you have really been looking for.

Ok, so that was something special. Laura and Todd have never spoken with Gangaji before and honestly, had never heard of her before, but after this interview aren’t going to forget her. Her peacefulness and knowledge that she shared with them and with the listeners who asked questions was beyond compare.
We talked about parenting. We talked about returning to our families. We talked about our children and what they are teaching us. It is a conversation you should be sitting down for. You should share it with a spouse or a friend. You will be better for it.

Gangaji joins us on Tuesday at 2pm. She lives in Ashland, Oregon and travels the world to speak with people everywhere.
Gangaji teaches “direct experience,” or meeting whatever emotion is present. For example she says, “Fear is about survival. When you drop under that and experience the fear without trying to change it, just letting it be, then it becomes still. When you open your heart to fear, rather than trying to fight it or deny it or even overcome it, then you find it is just energy.”

Todd and Laura went toe to toe on this one. Laura believes that self care takes top priority. If the rest of the world doesn’t fit in with her schedule, then it will have to wait. She is able to be her best mom when she is able to do her Meditation every morning and her Yoga on the weekends. Todd feels he is holding down the fort of the weekends and wants more family time on Sunday and wants more time to do the list of things that needs to be done on the weekend.
Glenda Montgomery, our guest on Tuesday, suggests that we spend 15 minutes each day with each kid and that can change every thing. Can we find those 15 minutes while running a company, making dinner, getting the kids to bed and keeping our own sanity?
It’s a journey not a race, but does it ever end?
